9 Februarie 2006 : Bejaarde egpaar wreed vermoor - niks geneem nie.
Charles & Joey Botha, Kaalvallei farm, Naboomspruit, murdered
Elderly Afrikaner farmer's achilles heels were slashed before he was beaten to death and left at family graveyard.
Wife beaten to death a brick
February 9 2006 - NABOOMSPRUIT. An elderly, unarmed Afrikaner farming couple has been found slaughtered on their farm Kaalvallei near Naboomspruit, their family has reported to Radio Pretoria today.
Hate-crimes - nothing robbed:
These were pure hate-crimes, carried out with great malice and aforethought: The (apparently large) group of attackers had first entered the homestead and turned off the electricity- and telephone lines before beating to death Mrs Joey Botha with a brick.
Slashed his achilles heels, left at family graveyard:
They then went outside to attack farmer Charles Botha, who was cutting the lawn -- it was determined from foot prints that there were more than 2 people who had attacked the farmer, police said.
They treated the Afrikaner farmer exactly as African poachers do to animals in the veld: they first slashed the old man's achilles heels, leaving him helpless, before beating him to death with shovels.
Mr Botha's body was then dragged to the gravesite of his 15-year-old grandson Cornel, who had died in a car accident several years earlier. Relatives, worried about the severed telephone connection, asked police to investigate.
They found Mr Botha's body covered up by branches near the family graveyard, and Mrs Botha inside the closed-up, dark homestead, with her head bashed in. Nothing appeared robbed.

Makhado - A farmer's wife saved her elderly mother's life on Monday by pulling her inside their house, away from an armed man, but was herself cold-bloodedly shot and killed by the attacker.
Etna van Heerden, 53, of Kromdraai farm on the Ledig road about 3 km from Makhado, Limpopo, died minutes after being shot in the chest.
A still-shocked Ona van Heerden sen, 75, recounted on Tuesday how her daughter and only child had pulled her through the back door into the house, but was herself shot.
"She'd fallen to the floor and I wiped the blood from her mouth.
"I told Dries we must try to lift her up, but she was covered in so much blood that she slipped out of our hands.
"This morning, we had to use a hosepipe to clear the blood from the house."
Ona lives in a flat adjoining the house of her son-in-law and daughter.
Nothing was stolen
The grieving granny said: "One just cannot believe it - they just shoot people dead nowadays."
The killer did not steal a thing from the house. Etna and her husband, Dries, have lived on the fruit farm for the past 10 years.
She worked at Sanlam insurance in Makhado.
Transvaal Agricultural Union SA manager Marie Helm said on Tuesday that farmers were being mowed down in Limpopo.
"It wasn't robbery, they didn't take even a cent, not even a blade of grass," she said.
The drama began on Monday about 19:30 when Ona walked from her flat to the farmhouse for supper.
"I heard the dogs barking furiously. Etna opened the back door and the next moment we heard someone running behind us in the garden," said the mother.
Etna pulled her mother into the house and a shot was fired. Then the attacker began kicking the dogs.
Ona said: "When I looked again, Etna was standing in front of the sink with blood pouring out of her mouth.
"I asked her: 'My child, where did they shoot you?' but she could no longer speak. She just pointed to her chest," she wept.
Dries ran into the kitchen from the front of the house where he had been sitting on the stoep.
He said: "I didn't know what to think. I ran back and tried to open my safe to get a firearm, but couldn't."
He phoned the police.
Grief-stricken Dries stood in front of Monday night's dishes in the kitchen and pointed to the spot where his wife had died.
"We were just about to eat. The chicken and rice were ready, and then this happened."
The couple had been married for 32 years and returned last week from a fortnight's holiday in Mozambique.
'Farm murders are well-planned'
"Etna enjoyed it tremendously and wanted us to go back with friends in April," said Dries.
The couple's 26-year-old daughter, Carien Wasserman, lives in Makhado.
Transvaal Agricultural Union chairperson Dries Joubert said on Tuesday that farm murders were well-planned: "They are carried out violently and cold-bloodedly."
He said information indicated the firearm used to murder Etna might have been stolen during a December farm attack in Levubu.

Robbers lie in wait for farmer, wife 07/05/2006 18:05 - (SA)
Johannesburg - A 59-year-old farmer was shot dead and his wife was wounded on Sunday during an armed robbery on their farm at Excelsior in the eastern Free State police said.
Spokesperson Superintendent Motarafi Ntepe said Nico Bezuidenhout died instantly after he was shot in the chest.
According to Ntepe the couple arrived at their property, Damfarm, after church and found five men waiting for them at the farm's tuckshop at 11:00.
She said one of the men then produced a firearm and fatally shot Bezuidenhout in the chest.
She said the gang then demanded firearms and cash from his 57-year-old wife, Belliene. After they failed to open a safe in the farm house, they also shot her in the head.
"They fled the scene in their own vehicle and the couple's bakkie, which was found abandoned between Excelsior and Winburg," said Ntepe.
She said the farmer's wife managed to drive to a neighbouring farm, from where she was rushed to Winburg Provincial Hospital.
Ntepe said the men were still at large and a case of armed robbery had been opened.

Farm killing: Hunt for No 6 08/05/2006 22:31 - (SA)
Winberg - Free State police have arrested another man for the murder of a 59-year-old man on a farm on Sunday.
Superintendent Motarafi Ntepe said police investigations had revealed there had been six suspects and not five as initially thought.
Four suspects, including the driver of their car, were arrested at Makeleketla, outside Winburg, hours after Nico Bezuidenhout was shot dead and his wife was wounded on their farm at Excelsior.
Belliene Bezuidenhout managed to drive to a nearby farm for help after being shot in the head and was admitted to Winburg Hospital.
Ntepe said police were searching for the last suspect. A firearm was seized during the arrests, he said.
One of the men had tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head when police caught him. He is recovering in a Bloemfontein hospital and is due to appear in court when he is fit enough.
The men are due to appear in Excelsior magistrate's court on Wednesday to face charges of murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
